“Trench Fitness has been a part of my life for quite a few years now. I have always loved taking part in the group training and have gone through a couple rounds of nutrition in the past. So when I signed up for the transformation challenge, I knew I was looking forward to hard work and a serious commitment to making healthier choices in my life.

Almost 3 years ago, I was in the best shape of my life. I got married and several months later we were expecting our first child. I had always just assumed that I would be able to continue working out and eating right throughout pregnancy but unfortunately things did not go as planned. Barely 4 months in, I developed debilitating sciatic pain, followed by a slew of other miserable issues that ultimately ended my workout routine altogether. I could basically write a book about all the things that did not go well for me throughout pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum recovery; but for the sake of saving time and space, I will summarize it by saying that my experience nearly ruined me. Physically, mentally, and emotionally.

It was over a year before I finally started to feel like I resembled something of a human again. But by that point, I had completely given up on myself and went through life in survival mode. I didn’t recognize the person I was and certainly didn’t know whose body I was in anymore. I quit feeding my body what it needed and instead took in whatever I could to just make it through the day. I was fortunate to be able to participate in the Barbells and Babies group with Erika while I was on maternity leave, but when I returned to work I was left without any sort of routine once again. I knew from prior experience what I really needed to do but I couldn’t find the motivation to just do it. I finally decided I had had enough when co-workers were repeatedly asking me “when I was due”, despite having just returned from having a baby. Enter the Transformation Challenge…

I have worked with Neil in the past and knew I was in good hands. With macros laid out and a workout routine in place, I was ready to go! Despite the overhaul of my diet and the addition of 3 strength workouts and 2 moderate cardio sessions per week, I never felt stretched thin or starved. It fit into my life so well that it almost felt as if it had always been there and the piece of the puzzle that had been missing was returned. Aside from the clear loss of weight and inches, the best part of all was the feeling of comfort. Clothing fitting better, reduced pain and discomfort, a huge increase in range of motion. My new postpartum body felt like a new body again, but a much better fit. I am so happy to be finding my way back to health again. I love working out and feeling strong in my new/old routine. While I occasionally work in a less-than-ideal food choice, I don’t let it consume me and am able to focus on feeling great because of the fuel I’m giving my body daily. Trench has helped me once again to reach my goals and to look forward to reaching new ones. The atmosphere, people, knowledge, and support are second to none and I am grateful for the opportunity and the push to be the best I can be for myself and my family.”
