I had been working with Trench fitness for a while when Neil suggested I look at competing in the Masters Division. It took quite a while for me to decide knowing the commitment it would take to be successful. Making that decision was the hardest part of the process.
Neil’s approach to nutrition is to give you the tools to make healthy choices within the guidelines he sets out for you. It allows for good variety which makes it very easy to follow. It is definitely not the chicken and broccoli diet you hear about (although both are good choices). My workouts were effective, seeing some gains in the beginning and being able to maintain that through the cutting process. Neil constantly monitored my progress and made adjustments as needed. I wasn’t really hungry and did not find I was lacking energy through the cutting process. In talking to other athletes at the competitions I found his approach to the competition prep as well as the peak week to be very healthy and a lot more enjoyable than what many of the other competitors had been through. If you are consistent with your nutrition, workouts, and cardio you will definitely see the results you are looking for and be ready to take the stage.
I competed in 2 all natural competitions this fall placing in 4 out of the 5 divisions I competed in, including winning the Transformation Challenge at the IDFA Western Canada Classic. I stepped on stage down just over 120 pounds from where I started. It felt amazing to be recognized for what I had accomplished. I have never looked or felt better.
I went into this thinking I would do this once, but having had such a great experience I am looking forward to continuing to work with Trench to prepare me for future competitions. I could not have done this without them. Their support and encouragement through the entire process was amazing. Neil and Erika’s excitement and enthusiasm for living a healthy lifestyle and improving yourself is contagious. To anyone considering competing I would highly recommend letting Trench Fitness help you achieve your goals, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for helping me achieve mine.
