As many of your know, I live and breath health and fitness and the endless pursuit of finding the most optimal way to reach complete and total health, wellness, strength, confidence, and physique perfection. This is my passion and this is why I have been so focused on learning as much as possible over the past 6 years of my life. Through countless hours of reading, a University degree, and years and years of trial and error with different nutrition and training methods on myself, here I am today.
The reason for my post today stems from my first experience with a protein latte this morning.
Protein Latte:
1 Full Cup of Black Coffee
1 Scoop Chocolate Caesin Whey Protein
1/2 tsp Cinnamon on top
As I downed my first protein latte this morning I was immediately overwhelmed with how good it tasted. This overwhelming feeling was quickly followed up with feelings of dissapointment and a desire to understand how people can show a total lack of care in regards to taking care of the one body they have been gifted to go through life with.
Are you still not getting my drift? WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL DRINKING FULLY LEADED SUGAR AND FAT PACKED LATTES FROM STARBUCKS AND THE LIKE WHEN OPTIONS LIKE THIS ARE AVAILABLE?
How about a delicious pumpkin latte full of SH#T!?
It completely boggles my mind. We all know that excess amounts of sugar and fat are the cause of our current obesity epidemic, but yet people still need to stop for their vanilla latte every morning or their quadruple double. Could it be that sugar is an addictive substance similar to cocaine? Could it be that the more excess body fat you carry, the more you crave these types of foods and the easier it is to go deeper and deeper into a state of obesity?
WAKE UP PEOPLE! WE ALL KNOW HOW BAD SMOKING IS, BUT YET WE ARE STILL RELUCTANT TO REALIZE HOW SIMILAR THE EFFECTS OF EXCESS SUGAR AND FAT ARE IN OUR DIET TO THE EFFECTS OF SMOKING!
The Protein Latte I consumed this morning contained 1 gram of fat, 3g of carbs and 24g of protein. This brings me to another point. If you apply yourself, it is not that hard to increase your protein intake for the day and bring down your carb and fat intake. Simply add a scoop of Whey here or there and BAM! your protein intake is up.
We are a nation fighting an obesity epidemic with the reasons mainly stemming from the foods we are putting into our mouths. We have become comfortable with it and developed extremely poor habits. The only way to break out of this trend is to become uncomfortable and work towards the things we know we need to do, but let our mind convince us we can not do.
In the end, for me it comes down to wanting to preserve and maintain my quality of life for as long as possible. I want to be able to have kids some day and be able to run in the park with them, play sports and be as lively and active with them as I possibly can. I also want to feel and look good everday of my life and inspire others to do the same. Wouldn’t you want to live that life as well?
Yours truly from the Trenches,
Neil
