“I read a quote a while ago and I’m not sure who said it but it was, “If you want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done!”  This quote really stuck with me and it got me re-evaluating just about everything in my life.  The biggest thing I questioned was my health.  I’d never really had a healthy lifestyle despite not being in terrible shape…good genetics I would always tell myself.  However since I had kids, I’ve noticed myself more sluggish and desiring the sleep that was escaping me.  A colleague of mine completed the transformation challenge a year ago and I was amazed at how much she has changed not just physically but mentally as well.  I realized that if I truly wanted to change my lifestyle I was going to have to do something I’ve never done…enter the challenge.

I was hesitant at first mostly because of the nutrition aspect of it.  I’ve always been an active person and competitive in all sports, however I have never given a second thought to how I fueled myself or what I fueled myself with.  I knew though, that, if I was ever going to change, this is how I needed to do it.  To my surprise the tracking of food wasn’t that hard and it wasn’t long before I started to enjoy that particular aspect of the challenge.  I became a bit of a food scale aficionado (I think I currently own six of them…haha).  I actually took great pleasure and satisfaction in hitting my macros bang on.  It didn’t always happen and there were days that were hard but I never lost focus or wanted to quit (I even took my scale with me to Cuba on an all-inclusive trip.)

The workout program that Neil put together for me was not intimidating for someone who hadn’t been inside a gym in almost 20 years.  I enjoyed performing exercises I’d never heard of and took great pride in adding weight each week and seeing my strength grow…while at the same time my body weight steadily decrease.  While exercising is an integral part to the challenge, I truly believe the key to changing your lifestyle and maintaining that lifestyle for the long run, begins and ends with nutrition.  It wasn’t until I started tracking my food that I realized I was nowhere close to living a healthy lifestyle.  Almost immediately after tracking my food I noticed an increase in my energy levels and a reduction in ailments I’ve had for years.  It truly is amazing to me that in twelve extremely short weeks, I have completely changed my outlook on life.

Without question this transformation has been one of the greatest accomplishments I’ve had in my life.  I had hoped at the start of this challenge to change the way I live my life and have a small impact on my family.  I far exceeded my expectations and it’s really cool to see the effect it’s had on my wife and two little girls.  We all have a greater appreciation of living a healthy lifestyle…to the point where my kids ask me all the time when can they come to the gym and workout.

I know it was a lot of hard work on my part but I can’t begin to thank Team Trench enough for all the support and guidance I received.  If there is anyone out there who might be considering doing the challenge or even a nutrition and fitness program, but is unsure or hesitant, take it from me, it’s 100% doable and if you remain committed, the results will blow you away.  I’m excited to begin the next 12 weeks and see the transformation that comes from it.

Thank you Neil and Scotty.  Onward and upward.”
